now onto kate's birthday party.
since we had her party in monroe to save everyone else the travel, great grandma carson came over to give kate her birthday presents - she got a doll and some clothes.

kate had lots of family there: grandma and grandpa cottle, grandma and grandpa colton, aunt jessie, uncle chad, aunt annie, and cousin sophie, and great aunt ann and uncle sherwood.
sophie is 2 1/2 months older than kate, but she sure is a lot bigger! she will have a lot to teach kate in the next couple of years.
but kate doesn't need to learn a thing about being cute :) i think she might know it, too.

kate's cupcakes! i made the cupcakes, cookies, and 2 kinds of frosting! i was pretty pumped on the results. they were ULTRA sweet, however.

can you spot her 2 front teeth on top? they are still making their way down. i know top baby teeth are so huge, but i can't wait to see them - we think she looks adorable with her big front teeth!
just like a baby shower, i had everyone write something down - but there were no shower games involved. i just asked everyone to write a note to kate so she could read them later on and know who was there to celebrate her first birthday and hear what they had to say to her. i'm glad i did this - i suggest it to everyone.

she totally got the hang of it, though. i think everyone's applause between shreds of paper really helped her get going :) she did MUCH better than at christmas!

the big ticket item for the night - her own table and chairs! she was pretty excited and so was sophie :) they both jumped right up there and started pounding on top of the table.

What a rad party! Can you plan my next birthday party? Looks like Kate had a blast and that she got lots of new loot. I'm totally jealous of her table. I've wanted one for so long we are currently using a plastic bin covered with the table cloth you made me. Happy Birthday Kate.
I'm sooooo impressed by how well those cupcakes came out!! Amazing! And that banner that you made her... it just makes me think that I can never show MY future kids these photos or they'll feel nelgected. hahaha You HAVE to post a picture of that doll you made her. It looks amazing from the back, but I bet it's absolutely adorable from the front. Shawn and I were at a furniture store the other day and saw this tiny table and chairs set. I about died at how cute it was. And then I about died when I saw that the set was over $800. Yeah... You did such a fantastic job with her birthday!! What a lucky little girl.
